Sneak Peak of the latest Eagle & Wolf Collab

Dad’s Birthday Card – Eagle & Wolf Collaboration

This sunday was my father’s 50th birthday. Maryanna and I decided to collaborate on a joint birthday card, as we all happen to be illustrators. Wolf and I sat across the table from one another, taking turns rendering each other first in pencil, then ink.

Maryanna is much more adept at portraiture than I am. I seem to be more suited to hand rendered lettering and psychedelic patterns, as you’ve seen here recently. It’s hard to do such a pretty face justice with my crude hatching. That being said, I don’t think I did half bad. I had a lot of fun with the lettering, as it’s more my forte.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Hard to look, but harder to look away…

Continuing with my current obsession with patterns and vibration, here’s my latest creation. I created this piece with nothing but a Micron Pen, a Moleskine and a bit of time in the evenings. The only rules in place are no intersecting lines, and no curves. Save for a few wavering lines due to everything being freehanded, I accomplished what I set out to do.

Lately one of my greatest inspirations has been a flight I took back from New York, with a layover in Las Vegas. Besides flying over the Pacific to Tokyo, the flight over the desert was the first time I had ever seen such beautiful emptiness. Here was an expanse of land, devoid of man-made forms. Occasionally the barren landscape was crossed by a line, a highway, or perhaps power lines. I saw many repeating shapes in the desert formations. Here were monuments to time, stone hewn away by millions of years’ exposure to the elements. I may not have millions of years to complete my works, but I can at least pay tribute to the great forces of the universe

More pattern & vibration…

Meet me in the tall grass…

I’ve developed a fascination with patterns of the non-repeating variety. Producing work like this is like meditation for me. Is it grass? Are they tentacles? Who knows. My goal was to create a sense of depth, chaos, texture and vibration. This is definitely a candidate for a limited edition screenprint.
