Fifty Licks Ice Cream

Summer is just starting to show its face here in Portland. My buddy Chad owns and operates Fifty Licks Ice Cream. They serve gourmet ice cream out of amazing, hand-painted ice cream trucks. Last week I produced a Fifty Licks ad for the Food Cart Issue of the Portland Mercury. This is the final and the sketch I used as the basis.

The allergies are still going strong. Allergy medication seems to alter my perception of time and/or space. Sometimes that’s not such a bad thing.

Warmup sketches…

Often, before starting in on my main work of the day, I’ll sit and sketch. I do this without much thinking or planning. It’s a sort of stretching exercise for the creative muscle. I encourage you to try it. Many of these sketches are unremarkable, but sometimes I produce something I actually like. Here are a few of my recent favorites…
