Modern Living Pt. 2

MODERN_LIVING_002I don’t believe I’ve posted this on here yet. It was originally intended as a desktop wallpaper, but it didn’t feel like it was suiting that purpose well enough so I gave the drawing to a friend. Coming back to it over a year later and  I find I rather like it.

The End of the World

treefort_001
It’s been quite a while since I’ve shown anything in a gallery. For the last few years I’ve been content to work my design job during the day and draw in my sketchbook on my own time. This month that all changes as I have this piece in Pony Club Gallery’s December show, themed around the end of the world as we know it. As a kid I spent endless hours drawing all manner of secret forts and dream hideouts. This is a continuation of those drawings that I did as a kid, except now my abilities have progressed a bit (I hope). The concept is simple: When the shit hits the fan, build a tree fort.

The rough drawing that I used to plan the piece. I concepted it out in my head while sitting in the dentist’s chair.

My initial concept sketch. It could’ve turned into something nice, but I felt that the subject matter was a little predictable.

The End of the World show will be up at Pony Club through the month of December. Come down tonight for the opening reception!
